    1. Translating Home Page Content

    Let’s start translating the website to the languages you have added in the switcher.

    Probably, it would be helpful to begin with the translation of your home page content.

    For this doing, make sure you are editing the French version of the website, in the customizer. You will recognize the French version by the URL parameter (in this case, “fr”).

    Open the customizer and begin translating the header content + each section content.

    Afterwards, you will have a French version of your Home Page:

    2. Translating Menus

    Translating menus is essential for a correct localization of your content.

    To translate a menu, you have to go to Appearance -> Menus, in the WordPress Admin dashboard.

    Select the menu you want to edit.

    Click on the “+” sign next to the language you want to translate the menu to.

    Give the menu a name and click on Create Menu.

    Begin customizing the menu items in your selected locale.

    3. Translating Header Title and Subtitle

    Make sure you are customizing the correct language version of the website.

    Go to Pages -> All Pages, in the WordPress Admin dashboard.

    Select the Home Page and click Edit in Customizer.

    Open the customizer and start editing title and subtitle, in the preview area:

    4. Translating Copyright Text

    To translate copyright text, you have to first make sure you are customizing the correct language version of the website.

    In the customizer area of the locale website version, go to Footer Settings à Copyright Text.

    Translate the text to the language you want a version of your website for.

    5. Translating a Page

    To translate pages in your website, you have to go to the list of pages, in WordPress Admin dashboard.

    Choose the page you want to translate and click Edit.

    Then, click Duplicate to transfer the translatable content to a specific locale.

    Check that you are editing pages in the specific locale and start translating the page.

    6. Translating a Post

    To translate a post, you have to go to the list of posts you created, in WordPress Admin dashboard.

    Select the post you want to translate, then click Edit.

    Check the option to duplicate post in target language. After that, make sure you are editing the duplicate post in the specific locale you need a translation for.

    Start translating the post content.
