Go to the Customizer -> Blog Settings.
It is recommended that you have a blog page open, as the changes you make to this page from the customizer won’t be visible otherwise.
Show thumbnail placeholder
Check the checkbox named as above, to display a thumbnail placeholder for each blog article.
Otherwise, leave the checkbox unchecked.
